Handcuffed teenager flees
Last Modified: Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at 1:35 p.m.
A handcuffed teenager escaped from deputies Tuesday afternoon and ran through downtown before he was captured, authorities say.
Angelo Ciciotte, 17, was being arrested on a burglary charge when he struggled away from a Sarasota County deputy and disappeared near Payne Park. Ciciotte was seen running near the government complex on Ringling Boulevard and, later, near School Avenue at noon.
A day care facility was briefly locked down. Officials used K-9 units, foot patrols and the Sheriff's Office helicopter to track the teenager, who was eventually spotted hiding behind a house in the 500 block of South Pelican Drive.
He was still in handcuffs.
Ciciotte is suspected of breaking into cars early Tuesday along Gantt and Proctor roads.
