SARASOTA , 6 a.m. -- Standing outside a boarded-up Emergency Operations Center, and cooled by a light breeze, Sarasota County EOC director Ed McCrane told SNN News 6's Bruce Asbury that the county seems to have "dodged a bullet" with regards to Tropical Storm Fay.

"Tornadoes are unlikely for our area. The storm is pushing to the east," said McCrane.
In Punta Gorda, SNN's Charles Brown reported gusts of wind and pelting rain that was coming down at an angle.
