PORT CHARLOTTE - A Charlotte County man arrested on burglary charges was rearrested shortly after being released from jail for allegedly breaking into a car in the county jail’s parking lot.

Bryan David Dudenhefer, 28, of 202 Seminole Blvd., was first arrested Wednesday night for allegedly breaking into the Army-Navy Fashions in Port Charlotte.

After he was released from jail early Thursday morning, a corrections officer saw him trying to open car doors in the parking lot.

Sheriff’s detectives who responded to the officer’s call found him in a Ford F-150 pickup truck in the parking lot.

He told deputies he was looking for a cell phone to call his wife. After he refused to get out of the truck, deputies physically removed Dudenhefer and arrested him a second time.

Detectives said they have now linked Dudenhefer to a string of burglaries near the Army-Navy store in the 3800 block of Tamiami Trail, including D&D Dog Grooming and B&G Sandwich shop.

Detectives said they found a shoe print on the back door of B&G Sandwich Shop that matched Dudenhefer’s shoes.

He faces several burglary charges, as well as charges of resisting arrest.

My goodness. I think this man needs to get a different profession. He isn't a very good criminal, that is for certain...

First he had to be pretty dumb to break into an Army-Navy store. Second to be going into car right there in the jail parking lot?!??!?!

This guy needs his head checked.
