TODAY: District 23 Senate candidate Morgan Bentley will have a meet-and-greet event at 7:30 a.m. at Buddha Belly Donuts, 1990 Main Street, Sarasota. Information: 952-0700.

The League of Women Voters will hold a meet-the-candidates event, 5:30-7 p.m., Jacaranda Library, 4143 Woodmere Park Blvd., Venice. Candidates for supervisor of elections, state Senate, County Commission and other offices are expected to attend.

WEDNESDAY

District 23 state Senate candidates Morgan Bentley and Nancy Detert will be hold a debate sponsored by the Sarasota Civic League at 11:30 a.m. at the University Club in the Ellis Building, 1605 Main St., Sarasota. Information: 366-5400.

District 71 candidate Ken Roberson will attend a forum hosted by the Peace River Federated Republican Women's Forum at Benedetto's Steakhouse, 300 W Retta Esplanade, Punta Gorda.

U.S. Rep. Vern Buchanan, R-Longboat Key, speaks to the Republican Club of South Sarasota County at 11:30 a.m. at the Venice Chamber of Commerce, 597 S. Tamiami Trail, Venice. Free.

Democratic vice president candidate Joe Biden speaks at the Sun Dome on the University of South Florida campus, East Fowler Avenue and USF Bull Run Drive, Tampa. Tickets are free and can be found online at www.barackobama .com. Doors open at 8:30 a.m. Biden later speaks at Alico Arena on the Florida Gulf Coast University campus, 10501 FGCU Blvd. South, Fort Myers. Gates open at 3 p.m.
