BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - Nate Davis threw for 155 yards and two touchdowns as Ball State overcame a slow start in its first-ever game as a ranked team to beat Western Kentucky 24-7.

MiQuale Lewis ran for 112 yards and a score for No. 25 Ball State (7-0), which needed more than a half to find any rhythm against the pesky Hilltoppers (2-5).

Perhaps the Cardinals were suffering from stage fright. They were dominated at times by WKU, which is in the final year of transition from the Football Championship Subdivision to the Football Bowl Subdivision.

The Hilltoppers piled up 352 yards of offense but turned the ball over three times and continually self-destructed in Ball State territory.

BOWLING GREEN 37, AKRON 33

AKRON, Ohio -- Tyler Sheehan ran for a touchdown and passed for three, including the go-ahead score with just under 5 minutes left, to lead Bowling Green (3-3, 1-1 Mid-American Conference) past Akron (3-4, 1-2).

Sheehan completed 26 of 41 passes for 239 yards with one interception, tossing scoring passes of 8 and 21 yards to Corey Partridge and 34 yards to Marques Parks.

With Bowling Green trailing 33-28, Sheehan capped a seven-play, 74- yard drive with the 21-yard scoring pass to Partridge with 4:52 left.

CENTRAL MICHIGAN 24, TEMPLE 14

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. -- Brian Brunner came on for injured star quarterback Dan LeFevour and threw a 37-yard touchdown pass to Bryan Anderson early in the fourth quarter of Central Michigan's (4-2, 3-0 MAC) win over Temple (2-5, 1-3).

Brunner, a senior who had gone into the game with one pass attempt this season, finished 7-for-13 for 136 yards for the Chippewas.

LeFevour, the 2007 MAC Offensive Player of the Year, left in the second quarter with an ankle injury after completing 10-of-11 passes for 106 yards and two touchdown passes to Antonio Brown. Coach Butch Jones said after the game that LeFevour's injury was not serious.

Chester Stewart was 15-for-32 for 163 yards for the Owls.

W. MICHIGAN 34, BUFFALO 28, OT

AMHERST, N.Y. -- Tim Hiller's 2-yard touchdown pass to Branden Ledbetter in overtime lifted Western Michigan (6-1, 4-0 MAC) over Buffalo (2-4, 1-2).

Thr Broncos scored 22 points in the fourth quarter and sent the game into overtime when Hiller found Jamarko Simmons in the end zone with 5 seconds left to play. Hiller was 42-for-63 for 345 yards and four touchdowns.

OHIO 26, KENT STATE 19

KENT, Ohio -- Ohio University used 203 yards passing from quarterback Boo Jackson and a trio of second-half field goals to overcome 336 yards of total offense from Golden Flashes quarterback Julian Edelman in the Bobcats' victory over Kent State (1-6, 0-3 Mid-American Conference).

Jackson got the Bobcats (2-6, 1-3) on the board first with his legs, running nine yards to the end zone for a 7-0 lead with 3:30 left in the first quarter.
