Drugs and gun found in truck

SARASOTA COUNTY - Police dogs alerted authorities to half a pound of cocaine, an open bottle of cognac and a loaded .40-caliber pistol in a man's truck, according to arrest records.
A Sheriff's K-9 deputy saw Reginald McKenzie, 30, driving a Chevy truck earlier this week near a community policing headquarters in Newtown.
McKenzie was pulled over because the window tint was too dark, a sheriff's report says. A police dog, Baylee, alerted deputies that there were drugs in the car and the deputies found nearly 10 ounces of cocaine in it, the report says. The deputies also found $3,400 in cash, the pistol and an open bottle of Hennessey, according to the report.
The gun was loaded with hollow point rounds, deputies say. McKenzie was charged with armed cocaine trafficking and carrying a concealed weapon, both felonies.
